Shots from the screening of NOUMINA last night on the plaza Big Screen at Federation Square, in Melbourne Australia.

Running as part of the second ‘Austhetic’ series focusing on Australian screen artists.

Awesome to see my work at such a large scale amongst the backdrop of Melbourne’s skyline…

This program running for about a month, check the FedTV site for scheduling of ‘Austhetic Series 2′ here: FedTV Guide. Get down and see/hear it in person!

These photos from two plays of NOUMINA, the first at twilight and then into the evening for full effect.

Photos and scenes from around the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Melbourne, a monolithic tomb of a building, surrounded by sand, and calling to mind the harsh Australian landscape, and its centrepiece – Uluru (Ayers Rock).

Inside, the first major Australian exhibition of European media artist Pipilotti Rist, famous for her large-scale and immersive video art installations.

Exciting to have a big-time foreign art-worlder again on our soils, and wish there was a more consistent stream of works and shows of art this strong and vibrant gracing our shores.

Which is a win for ACCA, who, along with CCP and Gertrude, certainly take the most risks and bets, when it comes to engaging and displaying new fine art.

The Rist show is a beauty – colourful, meditational. Perhaps the most enjoyable show for me at ACCA since their debut (Susan Norrie’s ‘Undertow’) some 10 years ago.

It’s again exciting to see the gargantuan and vacuous halls of ACCA support what they can – large scale, immersive media artworks.

2nd day back in Melbourne for our version of the global Bring Your Own Beamer concept, initiated by Rozendaal.

Events like this one capitalising on the excitement and flurry of the art opening vernissage, which otherwise become a temporary pop-up event.

It really is a ‘happening’ in the 60′s term of the word, where artists and thinkers come together with an ability to exchange and share amongst a topical selection of works.

Sam Hancock’s tongue-in-cheek BMW Beamer porno-model shoot out the front drew the crowd, and the paparazzi. Inside, 30+ projectors and music from DJ Bushdoof & others.

Couldn’t help feeling the vibe was alive on this killer Summer day in old Melbourne town :)
